January 27, 2006: VSAS students dance at the 50th Annual Lenaea Festival . .
Now in its 50th year, the award winning Lenaea Festival is hosted by the California State University, Sacramento School of the Arts Department of Theatre and Dance. The time and talent of its faculty, staff and students, as well as the use of its facilities, have helped to make the Lenaea Festival one of the largest high school theatre festivals of its kind in the nation.
The CSUS Transition Program and students from Luther Burbank High School teamed up with professional dancer Alice Twilla as part of the Fall 2005 Artists-in-the-Schools program. Twilla worked with the students in order to prepare them for their hip hop dance performance at the 2006 Lenaea Festival. Our dancers were featured as part of the festival's opening ceremony, where they recieved a standing ovation from the audience.
