About VSA California
Mission and Goals: The National Very Special Arts program, which became VSAarts in 1999, was established in 1976 by Jean Kennedy Smith. VSAarts mission at all levels is to promote the creative power in people with disabilities. Our goals are twofold:
- To promote artistic excellence and provide educational opportunities through the arts for children of all abilities
- To educate the general public, reduce fear, and promote awareness regarding the capabilities and accomplishments of people with disabilities.
